Description
Going on with the redesign of the Control Panel UI, the UI for creating dashboards has been improved, including a new, friendlier, easier-to-use interface, aimed for users that allows to add or create gadgets in dashboards more easily, simply by dragging the desired element and dropping it onto the dashboard canvas. Adding favorited gadgets is also greatly simplified in the same way .
How to access these new features?
By clicking on the button:
the dashboard canvas moves to the right, pushed by a new side menu:
In this menu, we can differentiate several parts:
Searcher
Allows you to search over all available elements.
Â
Tabs
Â
Predefined
From this tab, we can add new gadgets to the dashboard, or add existing gadgets.
Three sections appear below the search engine:
Predefined
Depending on the type of object we want to drag, we have two possibilities to create a new element. The form to create it will appear. As in the case of wanting to create a Bar type gadget, we would drag the + New Bar element on the canvas, opening the gadget creation form and after filling it in correctly, the new gadget will appear on the canvas.
Or we can drag a previously created gadget to the canvas for the case of the Bar type. It could be any of these, taken as an example:
Custom
The next entry is where the custom gadgets are accessible. From this entry, we can create a custom gadget, which is an instance created from a template. By dragging + New … we will create a new custom gadget. If we drag the entry + New Inline … an instance will not be created, only a copy in this dashboard without reference, so that, if we change the template, the instance will not be modified.
Â
Besides, for each type of custom gadget, previously created custom gadgets appear in its input entry, so that they can be dragged directly to the canvas and used.
Code
Allows to include code-type gadgets:
+New Code
Allows to add a code gadget based on different libraries, angularjs, vue, react or vue + ODS.
+ New HTML5
It allows to include a gadget of the html 5 type.
Â
Favorites:
The gadgets that each user has marked as favorites, appear here. It allow us to drag these on the dashboard canvas.
